link popularity

Why Links are so Important
Besides an excellent form of online advertising (through direct, click-thru traffic), it is estimated that over 80% of today's search engine ranking criteria is based on something called link popularity. Back links (also known as inbound links) are image links or text links from other websites that point into your website. The very heart of Google's ranking criteria is based on their unique system called PageRankT. PageRank uses a proven democratic concept that considers incoming links as a form of voting for the websites they point to. The more incoming links you have from other websites, the better chance your search engine rankings will improve. However, it's much more than just sheer volume of incoming links, you also have to factor in the link popularity, quality and relevance of the websites providing the links, as well as the words used within the links (i.e. "anchor text").

Is Content Really King?
Offering unique and relevant content on your website is important, but on-page criteria is no longer enough by itself. With today's search engine algorithms, you are going to have a hard time out ranking a competitor who has a superior volume of back links and is properly using their choice of anchor text within those links. Don't believe us? Request one of our Back Link Analysis reports on search terms of your choice and we'll show you a detailed back-link break down of your top ranking competitors and compare this data against your own back links.
